French-Swedish colloquium at the Oservatoire

Sweden and France have been cooperating in the space field for twenty years, and they jointly carried out a number of projects at the Esrange base (near Kiruna) in the north of Sweden.

As part of the activities of the annual event “Swedish December” in France, the Swedish embassy organized a colloquium on the theme of the achievements and prospects of this technological cooperation.

On 12 December, guests from the scientific, university and economic circles gathered at the Observatoire de Paris, invited by the embassy in partnership with the National Center for Space Studies (CNES) and the Observatoire.

Under the presidency of Frank Belfrage, Ambassador of Sweden in France, Daniel Egret, President of the Observatoire de Paris, and Yannick d’Escatha, President of the CNES, the main players of this collaboration participated in a debate on the future prospects of balloons, satellites and research. It was an opportunity for the public to visit the exhibition of photographs and videos organized by the embassy and the CNES, and also to admire a life-size balloon and watch an amazing film about Northern Lights.
